Site:Mutual House, formerly Chelsea House and Parrs Bank, is a grade II listed building and benefits from an extremely prominent location in Ipswich.
Design:There were a number of items set within the initial brief that needed to be satisfied to update and refurbish the building the insertion of a high quality platform lift has been surgically cut out of the existing floor to provide access for all. New interview rooms and counter have been designed to provide a light, homely and spacious branch.
Heritage:Mutual House contains an array of hidden and visible heritage gems. Some of these have been found and recorded, and some have been brought back into the public realm for everyones benefit. The original ceiling cornice was hidden behind a dull 1970’s suspended ceiling. At the clients own expense and at their risk, it has been exposed, restored and displayed to spectacular effect, and duely finished with statement light fittings.
